Media Coverage of Theranostics

Work done by Theranostics editor Shawn Chen’s lab on how to follow stem cells transplanted into living tissue was highlighted by the 2011 June issue of the Scientist Magazine (http://the-scientist.com/2011/06/01/track-your-package/).

2011 Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Symposium The central theme of the 2011 Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Symposium (NanoDDS’11) (http://www.nanodds.org/) held in Salt Lake City (October 15-16, 2011) is nano theranostics. Dr. Shawn Chen and a number of Theranostics journal editorial board members (Hamid Ghandehari, Alexander “Sasha” Kabanov, Twan Lammers, Greg Lanza, J. Andrew MacKay, Tamara Minko) gave oral presentations at this symposium.

The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) 2012 Mid-Winter Meeting to held in Orlando, FL (January 26-29, 2012) has an educational session titled theranostics (http://interactive.snm.org/docs/MWM2012_Agenda_%2009202011.pdf). Dr. Shawn Chen will be the moderator.

The Accounts of Chemical Research journal dedicated a special issue on Theranostic Nanomedicine (http://pubs.acs.org/toc/achre4/44/10). Dr. Shawn Chen along with Drs. Sam Gambhir (Stanford) and Jonwoo Cheon (Yonsei University) served as guest editors to put together a total of 28 Accounts of various inorganic nanoparticles (noble metal, metal oxide, and mesoporous silica nanoparticles, semiconductor quantum dots, and magnetic nanoparticles), lipid aggregates (including liposomes), and synthetic polymer systems (such as vesicles and micelles) based theranostic nano-platforms.

Dr. Chen and Theranostics journal have been featured in an article of Laser Focus World magazine, and in C&EN (Chemical and Engineering News).
